Leh Ladakh in 4 nights / 5 days itinerary plan

The quickest way to explore Ladakh is to fly in. By doing so, you end up saving multiple days that are otherwise required while driving into and out of Ladakh. So, if you are short on time and want to do Leh Ladakh in 4 nights / 5 days , this is what we recommend:

Flights take about 90-100 minutes from Delhi and starting landing into Leh from early morning onwards. Likewise, flights out of Leh start at 8am and extend till 12 noon. No, flights don’t land into Leh or take off from noon onwards. Here is our recommended plan to explore Leh Ladakh in 4n/5days:

Leh Ladakh in 4 nights / 5 days

Day 1:
Post airport transfers, it is highly advisable that you rest, sleep and keep yourself hydrated. AMS or Acute Mountain Sickness can easily hit you on the first day of arrival as the human body takes time getting used to high altitudes.
That said, due to lack of time on hand, if you are feeling alright by noon, you can go ahead and get yourself transferred to the walking market by evening. Please do not walk much, eat energy-rich food and drink lots of water. No alcohol or tobacco today at any cost!

Day 2:
This is when you start getting a taste of what Ladakh is all about. By now, you body has been at 11,000 feet for 24 hours. If you have no headache and dizziness in the morning, you can proceed ahead with local sightseeing.
Ideally, you should finish the inner line permit work before heading out. This can be done by your local driver. While he gets the work done, you can finish breakfast and by 11am, should be on the road to sightseeing. The first half of the day can include sangam / confluence point, Pathar Saab Gurudwara, Magnetic Hill and Hall of fame. The langar at Gurudwara can also serve as lunch.
These four locations will take about 2-3 hrs. By early evening you will be back in Leh and this is when you can head to Shanti Stupa. Do note, you need to walk uphill here and so its best to take it easy. Watch the city below in the evening light!

Day 3:
This is when your real Ladakh experience starts. Yes, Leh Ladakh in 4 nights / 5 days still allows you to live all the magical moments. Today you drive to what is the world’s highest motorable road at Khardung la pass. Then, you descend into the lush green Nubra valley where sand dunes and double hump camels await you.
Nubra is slightly lower than Leh and hence a bit warmer too. Also, its common to have a headache at Khardung la due to its height.

Day 4:
Its a long day today but one that will remain etched in your heart forever. You start a bit early and cover the Diskit Monastery. Then, the scenic and isolated drive to Pangong lake starts via the Agham Shyok route. This route has improved a lot in the past few years and barring a few days in monsoons, is always open!

Leh Ladakh in 4 nights / 5 days

You should reach Pangong lake in 5-6 hours which means if you leave Nubra by 8am post breakfast, you should be at the lake by 1pm. Spend 2 hours here, soak in the views, try your luck at throwing ‘floating’ rocks, grab a bit for lunch and then stary your trip back to Leh. This takes another 4-5 hours.

Day 5:
Unfortunately, on day number 5, your quick little trip comes to an end. If possible, try to take a late morning flight so that you don’t have to wake up too early!
